Samsung Galaxy S24: Perfect combination of small size, strong style and tremendous performance
Most smartphones these days are getting bigger and heavier. But if you want a phone that is slim, looks good and works fast – then the Samsung Galaxy S24 could be a great option for you.
This phone is lightweight, fits comfortably in the hand and looks great too. Also, its performance is great – that is, it runs fast and can do every task with ease.
So if you are looking for a phone that is stylish and powerful, but does not feel heavy in the pocket – then the Galaxy S24 is definitely worth considering.
This phone is an upgraded version of the Galaxy S23 that came last year. It looks almost the same, but small but good changes have been made in many places. The design has changed slightly, the screen has become faster, performance and software have become better.
Design: Light, thin and premium feel
The Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S23 are the same size, but the S24 has narrower bezels around the screen. As a result, the phone feels more fashionable to hold in the hand and has a larger screen.
Matte aluminum has been used in its frame, which gives a very premium feel. Many people may say that its look is a bit like the iPhone, but its edges are slightly curved which makes it even easier to hold in the hand.
It weighs just 167 grams – meaning it is very light. You can use it comfortably with one hand. The back of this phone has a matte finish, which prevents fingerprints.
But one thing to keep in mind – its surface can feel a bit slippery.
So it would be better if you get a good cover for it, so that there is no risk of the phone falling from your hand.
Color options: Something for every style

- Amber Yellow
- Cobalt Violet
- Onyx Black
These three colors will be available on online websites like Amazon and Samsung’s official website.
At the same time, special colors like Sapphire Blue and Jade Green will be available only on Samsung’s website.
We got Amber Yellow for review – it is a light yellow color, which looks a little muted i.e. less bright than the color seen on the website. But in reality it gives a very classy and rich feel.
Strength and protection: As much protection as a premium phone
In the Galaxy S24, Samsung has incorporated “Armour Aluminium 2” to prevent the phone from scratching or tumbling. It is robust and long-lasting due to the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 covering both the screen and the back.
The phone has also got an IP68 rating, which also protects it from water and dust.
The Ultrasonic Fingerprint Sensor installed in it is much faster and accurate than before. But if you have applied tempered glass on the screen, then there may be some problem.
Display: Great color and high brightness
The Galaxy S24 has a 6.2-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display.
This screen comes with Full HD+ resolution, which makes photos and videos look very sharp and clear.
Apart from this, it has a refresh rate of 120Hz, which makes the screen very smooth – that is, scrolling, playing games or watching videos, everything goes without any interruption.
The brightness has been raised to 2600 nits this time, which is sufficient to see the screen well even in direct sunshine. In our test, we saw that in Auto Brightness mode it went up to about 2200 nits – that is, this screen is quite powerful even in the real world.
Due to LTPO technology, this screen automatically changes the refresh rate as per the need – like when you are just reading, it goes down to 24Hz and goes up to 120Hz in gaming or scrolling.
This time in Always-On Display (AOD) the wallpaper gets completely dimmed – as is the case in the iPhone 15 series – this increases the battery consumption slightly.
The colors look very alive, the blacks are deep and the details are clear when viewed from any angle. The only regret is that it does not yet have 10-bit color support.
Performance: Exynos 2400’s impact
The Galaxy S24 and S24+ in India come with Samsung’s own Exynos 2400 processor, while the S24 Ultra has Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Samsung claims that the performance of both is almost the same. The S24 has a 10-core Exynos processor that can go up to 3.2 GHz.
The phone gets 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage, which is very fast.
How was the benchmark test?
- AnTuTu score: Above 16 lakhs
- Geekbench: Beats OnePlus 12, but lags behind iQOO 12 and S24 Ultra
- PCMark Work: Score of 17,736 – which shows that this phone is very good at tasks like office, photo editing.
The slight drawback is that while gaming or doing heavy work, the phone gets a little hot and then feels slow for 5-10 minutes. This does not happen in the S24 Ultra as it has a better cooling system.
Software: Clean, smooth and seven years guarantee
The Galaxy S24 comes with Samsung’s One UI 6.1 with Android 14. It is the cleanest and smoothest interface ever.
Samsung has promised that this phone will continue to receive software and security updates for 7 years. That is, if you are buying a phone for a long time, then this is a huge advantage.
Galaxy AI Features: Smartphone has become smarter

- Circle to Search: Circle anything and Google search is done immediately
- Chat Assist: Change the tone of the message, correct grammar or translate the language
- Live Translate: Translation during call
- Instant Slow-Motion: Go to the gallery and slow-mo a video
- Generative AI Editing: Remove things from the photo, change the place or fill the background
These features may seem a bit gimmick in the beginning, but this technology will be very useful in the future.
Camera: Is it still top-class or not?
The Galaxy S24 has the same camera setup as the Galaxy S23:
- 50MP primary camera (with OIS)
- 10MP telephoto lens (3x zoom)
- 12MP ultrawide camera
- 12MP selfie camera
The photos are great – colours look natural, details and dynamic range are very good. The ultrawide camera now comes with better tuning than before.
Edge detection is good in portrait mode and skin tones look natural. But 3x portraits can get a little blurry in low light.
Night mode photos show a bit of grain and the exposure is sometimes overdone, which can lead to lens flare.
Still, the camera is still quite strong at this price point. Although companies like OnePlus 12 and iQOO 12 are reaching new heights in camera.
Battery life: Small size, long battery
The Galaxy S24 has a 4000 mAh battery that gives 6-7 hours of screen time in medium use. When we did a 4K video loop test, the phone surprised us by lasting for about 17 hours.
The charging speed is a bit slow – just 25W – which takes about 1 hour 14 minutes to fully charge the phone. But wired and reverse wireless charging facility is definitely available.
Conclusion: Is it wise to buy Samsung Galaxy S24?
If you’re searching for a long-lasting, fashionable, and lightweight smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S24 can be a fantastic choice.
Its great display, Galaxy AI features, 7 years of update support and premium design make it stand out from others.
However, due to the Exynos processor, some heating and throttling can be felt in heavy gaming or heavy use. If you are a light user – like you take a phone for social media, videos, photos, calling etc. – then this phone is perfect for you.
If you wait a bit and buy it in a good offer, then this deal can be even better.
